🇳🇬 Nigeria Demands $81.5 Billion from Binance for Economic Damage and Tax Evasion
Nigerian authorities have filed a lawsuit against the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange Binance, demanding 79.5 billion dollars for economic damages and 2 billion dollars for unpaid taxes for 2022 and 2023. The country’s tax agency claims that Binance has a significant economic presence in Nigeria and is required to pay corporate taxes. Additionally, the exchange is accused of facilitating tax evasion and money laundering.
Earlier in 2024, two Binance executives were detained in Nigeria on charges related to the country’s economic instability. Binance denies all allegations and states that it is cooperating with the Federal Inland Revenue Service of Nigeria to resolve potential tax liabilities.
