📢 ESMA Introduces Mandatory Knowledge Testing for Crypto Companies
The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has proposed new rules requiring crypto companies to verify employee qualifications and ensure ongoing training. This initiative aims to improve professionalism in the industry, protect investors, and strengthen trust in the cryptoasset market.
Under the ESMA proposal, companies providing cryptocurrency-related services will be required to:
🔹 Verify employee qualifications by assessing their relevant education and experience in the crypto industry.
🔹 Ensure ongoing training by organizing workshops and updating staff knowledge on regulatory requirements and technological advancements.
These measures align with the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), which establishes uniform regulatory standards across the EU. ESMA invites crypto service providers, investors, and financial institutions to participate in discussions about the new rules—proposals can be submitted until April 22, 2025.
This new approach aims to make the cryptoasset market more transparent and stable, minimize fraud, and create a safer environment for crypto businesses operating within the European Union.
