Boston Dynamics Robot Dog Expands to Korea

Boston Dynamics has more than 1,500 Spot robot dogs deployed worldwide, and the company is working toward ensuring service and support for its international customers.

Having opened its first international office near Frankfurt, Germany, last year, Boston Dynamics has announced it is expanding its reach for customers in Korea with a new strategic partnership.

Boston Dynamics is partnering with Clobot to allow for local service and support in the region.

“There is a lot of pull from the Korean market and a lot of excitement for robotics,” said Marc Theermann, Boston Dynamics’ chief strategy officer. “Finding such a strong partner has really cemented the impetus to expand in the region; Clobot has local market expertise, a large customer base that they are servicing today and a depth of experience with both Spot and other robotics technologies.”

Korean autonomous robot service provider Clobot specializes in smart factory automation solutions and utilizes Boston Dynamics’ robot dog, Spot, to enhance safety and efficiency in operations, according to a company release.

Boston Dynamics said the partnership will allow the company to extend its reach and ensure “high-quality local customer enablement.”

Clobot will be an official distribution and deployment partner for Spot in Korea and is introducing the region’s first Spot repair service.

“These services will be provided in close partnership with the Boston Dynamics team, including expert training, to help us enable our customers from their first pilot to scaled deployments,” the company said.
