Lockheed Martin has received a $4.6 million contract from DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) to develop artificial intelligence tools for dynamic air missions. This initiative is part of DARPA’s Artificial Intelligence Reinforcements (AIR) program. The main goal of the project is to create and deploy dominant AI agents to perform complex combat tasks in the air, including beyond-visual-range (BVR) multi-purpose operations.
As part of this project, Lockheed Martin will use AI-enhanced models and simulations (M&S) to ensure more accurate and faster decision-making in real combat conditions. The project is designed for 18 months and aims to significantly improve modeling and simulation capabilities, enabling the U.S. armed forces to achieve superiority in tactical autonomy in the air.
