Alexa+ Arrives on the German Market: Amazon Launches Beta Testing of Its Voice AI Assistant
Amazon has begun beta testing Alexa+ in Germany and is inviting selected users to apply for participation until the end of the month. This is an expanded version of the voice assistant first introduced by the company in spring 2025 and already gradually rolling out in the United States. As a subscription service, Alexa+ unlocks additional features on supported Echo devices, including more natural, longer conversations and significantly improved conversational “memory.”
The new level of Alexa is closer to modern AI chatbots: the assistant maintains context better, returns to previous questions, combines answers, and can handle more complex requests — from creating meal plans and workout schedules to step-by-step visual recipe guides on screen-equipped devices. In the U.S., Alexa+ is included in the Amazon Prime package, and without a subscription costs $19.99 per month. For Germany, neither the price nor the exact launch date has been announced yet, but the start of the beta clearly indicates that a full release on the German market is only a matter of months. Meanwhile, the basic functionality of standard Alexa — including alarms, music, weather, and news — will remain free even after the launch of the new version.
