Beijing Connects to the Future: The World’s First 10G Network Goes Live!

While the rest of the world is still getting used to 5G technologies, China has made a giant leap forward.
In April 2025, Huawei and China Unicom announced the launch of the world’s first 10G network in Xiong’an — the new high-tech suburb of Beijing.

The speed tests speak for themselves: download speeds approaching 9,340 Mbps and upload speeds exceeding 6,300 Mbps.
To put this in perspective: an 8K movie file weighing around 90 GB can be downloaded in just 72 seconds. Previously, it would have taken at least 12 minutes — about the time it takes to boil a kettle.

But more important than the raw numbers is what this technology makes possible.
With ultra-low latency measured in milliseconds, users’ lives are about to change dramatically:
cloud gaming becomes flawlessly smooth, ultra-high-definition 8K videos load and play instantly, and virtual and augmented reality are no longer just futuristic novelties — they become part of everyday life.
