Berlin Startup Launches ‘Kamikaze Drone’ for EU Defense Needs
As drones become an integral part of modern warfare, a Berlin-based startup is quietly but steadily carving out a niche in the rapidly growing tactical UAV sector. Their product is a short-range kamikaze drone, specifically designed for European rapid response forces and border missions.

According to Handelsblatt, the drone is an inexpensive, single-use electric UAV capable of carrying payloads, including explosives, and autonomously homing in on targets. The design is optimized for mass production in Europe, targeting exports and strategic partnerships with national defense ministries.
The startup collaborates with industrial clusters in Saxony and uses European components to avoid reliance on Chinese and American technologies. Special emphasis is placed on autonomous navigation and protection against electronic warfare (EW), making the platform suitable for real-world combat conditions.
Priced under €20,000 per unit, it directly competes with Iran’s Shahed and Turkey’s STM Kargu. Its key advantages are digital architecture and modularity: the same platform can be adapted for reconnaissance, EW, or interception of small targets.
This is more than a product — it’s a signal of how the EU’s defense ecosystem is adapting to new types of threats by investing in fast, autonomous, and scalable solutions usable not only by military forces but also by special services, border patrols, and coalition units.
