BMW Motorrad has unveiled the innovative ConnectedRide Smartglasses — augmented reality glasses designed specifically for motorcyclists. These smartglasses project key data such as speed, gear, navigation, and other parameters directly into the rider’s field of vision, allowing them to keep their eyes on the road and enhancing riding safety.
The technology is based on a compact optical system positioned above the right lens, which displays real-time information. The glasses connect to both a smartphone and a motorcycle via the BMW Motorrad Connected app, enabling synchronization and customization of the displayed data.
The design of the smartglasses takes into account the specifics of motorcycle helmets and ensures comfortable wear even on long rides. The kit includes interchangeable lenses: tinted and clear, both with UVA/UVB protection. For users with vision impairments, an RX adapter is available to install corrective lenses.
A lithium-ion battery provides up to 10 hours of autonomous operation. The glasses come in two sizes with different nose pads to ensure an optimal fit. The recommended retail price is around €690.
The ConnectedRide Smartglasses represent a major step forward in integrating augmented reality technology into everyday motorcycling, offering a new level of interaction with the vehicle and the surrounding environment.
