Hopper Mobility: Germany’s Answer to the Urban Mobility of the Future
Amid growing interest in micromobility and environmentally friendly transport, the Hamburg-based startup Hopper Mobility has found itself in the spotlight: the company became a winner of Investor Days Thüringen 2025, receiving one of the top awards for innovation in urban transportation.
Founded in 2021, Hopper Mobility is doing what many electric vehicle manufacturers only promise: combining the comfort of a car with the sustainability of a bicycle. Their mobility solution is an electric three-wheeled vehicle classified as a pedelec, which allows it to be used on bike lanes and operated without a driver’s license. The maximum speed reaches 25 km/h, and the enclosed cabin, ergonomics, and climate protection ensure a comfortable ride even in rain or cold.

According to the startup, since its founding, around one hundred such electric capsules have been sold, and in 2025 production of another 60 vehicles is planned. Development is being carried out in close collaboration with the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) and RWTH Aachen, underscoring the company’s serious engineering approach.
Hopper Mobility targets the market of “new urban habits”—users who do not want to depend on cars, parking, or fuel, yet are not ready to give up comfort, protection, and aesthetics in personal transport. Winning at Investor Days Thüringen opens new opportunities for attracting venture capital and scaling production.
