Huawei Leads the Wearables Market: 2024 Results
The wearables market continues to grow dynamically, and data from the first three quarters of 2024 confirms a shift in leadership. According to an IDC report, Huawei took first place in shipment volume, surpassing Apple and Xiaomi.
Market Leaders: Who’s on Top?
Huawei: With an impressive 44.3% year-over-year growth, Huawei shipped 23.6 million devices, increasing its market share to 16.9%. The company is actively expanding its line of smartwatches and fitness bands, offering competitive solutions in health and fitness.
Apple: Despite a 12.8% drop in shipments, Apple remains the second-largest player with 22.5 million units and a 16.2% share. The decline may be due to market saturation in the premium segment.
Xiaomi: Strengthened its position with a 26.5% increase, reaching 20.5 million units and a 14.7% share. Xiaomi continues to attract consumers with affordable pricing and rich functionality.
Overall Market Landscape
In total, 139 million wearable devices were shipped in the first three quarters — a slight decline (-1%) compared to the same period last year. Notably, the “other manufacturers” segment lost a significant share (-20.3%), indicating market consolidation around major brands.
Huawei is confidently seizing the lead thanks to its aggressive growth strategy and innovation. Apple and Xiaomi maintain strong positions, but competition is intensifying. The wearables sector remains one of the most promising areas in the technology of the future.
