Kazakhstan launches e-Residency — digital access to the country’s banking and business environment
Kazakhstan has officially launched its e-Residency program, opening up digital resident status for foreign entrepreneurs, investors, and digital professionals, along with access to a range of government, banking, and business services online without physical presence. The program is administered fully online and provides a digital identity and an individual identification number (IIN).
According to the project’s official portal, e-Residency grants access to banking products, electronic government services, and opportunities to establish and manage a business from anywhere in the world—similar to Estonia’s well-known e-residency, but with a focus on economic integration in the Central Asian region.
This initiative is part of a broader government strategy for digital economic transformation and the attraction of international investment and talent, which already includes projects such as Digital Nomad Residency—a program that simplifies residence permits for IT professionals.
For Kazakhstan, the launch of e-Residency represents not only the modernization of administrative services, but also an ambition to become a regional hub for digital business: the program lowers entry barriers for entrepreneurs and investors, who can now work with Kazakh partners and markets without relocating, while easily interacting with the local banking system.
This move echoes the experience of the Baltic states, where e-residency has long served as a tool for attracting companies, freelancers, and innovative projects, strengthening their international positioning.
