NeoStand: Indian Electric Wheelchair That Enables Standing
In India, an innovative wheelchair called NeoStand has been developed, allowing users to shift from a sitting to a standing position at the press of a button. The design is the result of a collaboration between the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) and the startup NeoMotion.
NeoStand gives users the ability to stand upright, providing significant physical and psychological benefits. These include improved blood circulation, increased bone density, better posture and mobility, as well as greater self-confidence and social interaction.
The wheelchair features a compact design, making it easy to maneuver in tight spaces, and includes the ability to pause at intermediate heights, which is beneficial for therapeutic applications.
NeoStand is already available on the market and represents a major step forward in the field of accessible and effective mobility solutions for people with disabilities.
