Neuralink Opens Global Volunteer Recruitment: Mind-Controlled Computing Now Accessible Worldwide

Neuralink, the company founded by Elon Musk, has announced the expansion of its participant recruitment for clinical trials of its neural implants.
Applications are now being accepted from individuals with body paralysis from anywhere in the world. Previously, participation was limited to citizens of the United States and Canada.

Since the first successful implant in January 2024, three patients have already received Neuralink’s neural chips.
The first of them, Noland Arbaugh, who was paralyzed following an accident, was able to control a cursor on a screen, play video games, and even learn new languages — all using only the power of his mind.

Over the next year, the company plans to begin trials of a new neuroimplant called Blindsight, designed to restore vision in individuals who have completely lost it, including those born blind.
The first Blindsight implantations are expected to take place by the end of 2025.
