NoName057(16) Hack Group Neutralized: International Cyber Task Force Shuts Down Pro-Russian Botnet

In a coordinated international operation, German law enforcement and EU agencies dismantled the global server infrastructure of the notorious pro-Russian hack group NoName057(16). According to Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), the group’s operations were fully neutralized — its botnet deactivated, and critical coordination and data storage systems seized for digital forensic analysis.

NoName057(16) gained infamy for its DDoS attacks on Western critical infrastructure, from government websites to power grids and banks — especially in countries that supported Ukraine. Unlike isolated cyberattacks, this group’s operations were coordinated, ideological, and accompanied by propaganda and threats.

The BKA reports that the takedown yielded access to crypto wallets, chat logs, and command servers, potentially exposing both internal leaders and external sponsors.

This mission is a key milestone in the age of digital threats: international cybersecurity cooperation is proving increasingly effective, and online anonymity no longer guarantees impunity for state-aligned hacker groups.
