Omi: A Wearable Device That Listens, Understands, and Acts
The startup Based Hardware has introduced Omi — a compact wearable device that can be worn as a necklace or attached to the temple with a medical adhesive patch.
Omi continuously listens to surrounding conversations, analyzes them using GPT-4o, and provides users with summaries, reminders, translations, and to-do lists.
The device is also capable of detecting when a user is addressing it, without the need for activation keywords.
This is achieved through integration with a brain interface that recognizes the user’s intentions.
The first version of Omi, priced at $89, focuses on audio functionalities and is expected to be released in the second quarter of 2025.
The developers are also offering an open-source platform, allowing the community to build their own applications and extensions for the device.
More detailed information about Omi can be found on the official website: Omi AI
