Russia accounted for up to 28% of traffic on crypto exchanges in August

The share of Russian traffic on the Bybit exchange reached 28% in August, according to Wu Blockchain, journalist Colin Wu. On the OKX exchange, around 11% of visits came from Russia last month, while HTX had 17%. Among other crypto exchanges popular with Russians are Bitfinex and Kucoin. On the Deribit exchange, which specializes in crypto derivatives, 19% of visits were from Russia.

The overall traffic increase from July to August was observed only on OKX, Bitfinex, BitMart, and MEXC, with the latter recording more than double the traffic compared to the previous month. All other major exchanges saw a decline in traffic in August.

The largest share of visitors from the United States in August was observed on Coinbase (62%) and Crypto.com (29%). A significant portion of the traffic on Binance, the largest exchange by trading volume, came from Turkey, Ukraine, and Vietnam (6-7% from each country).
