SlimBeam: A Next-Gen Compact Laser Weapon Developed in Ukraine
Ukrainian engineers have unveiled SlimBeam — a compact laser turret designed to counter drones in close-range operations. This is no futuristic prototype, but a real, mobile solution adapted to the conditions of modern drone warfare.
SlimBeam can disable drones at distances of up to 1 km by literally burning through their structure. At up to 2 km, it can blind enemy optical and navigation systems, including cameras and rangefinders. Thanks to a focused laser beam and precision targeting system, the turret operates quietly, accurately, and nearly invisibly — making it especially valuable for protecting mobile units and tactical teams.
Unlike bulky systems with generators and radar arrays, SlimBeam is designed as a lightweight, easily deployable unit that can be mounted on a jeep, stationary platform, or even a rooftop. This flexibility minimizes logistical risks and simplifies integration.
Crucially, SlimBeam is not an experimental device, but a system already tested in real combat. It marks a shift in Ukraine’s military science — from import dependency to homegrown counter-UAV technologies including laser, electronic warfare, and kinetic solutions.
SlimBeam is a symbol of the transition: from reactive defense to predictive, precision threat neutralization in real time.
