Starlink to Increase Internet Speed to 1 Gbps

SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk, aims to significantly enhance the performance of its Starlink satellite internet by increasing connection speeds from the current 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps. To achieve this goal, the company plans to deploy an orbital constellation of 30,000 satellites and expand the range of radio frequencies used.

Recently, SpaceX submitted an application to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for additional permissions to utilize expanded frequency bands. According to the company’s plans, these changes will enable the deployment of the second-generation satellite system, which will deliver gigabit speeds, low-latency broadband connectivity, and global mobile coverage.

The company is also looking to reduce latency to below 20 ms by obtaining permission to position satellites in orbits ranging from 340 to 365 km. This will help increase data transfer speeds for both uplink and downlink channels, ensuring a more stable connection for users worldwide.

SpaceX’s initiative is aimed at maintaining a high level of global connectivity and preparing for new technological challenges, including future 6G systems and other innovations.
