Sunrise Robotics Raises $8.5 Million to Democratize Industrial Automation

The Slovenian startup Sunrise Robotics, headquartered in Ljubljana, has announced the raising of $8.5 million in a seed funding round. The investment came from the London-based fund Plural, founded by entrepreneurs Taavet Hinrikus (Wise) and Ian Hogarth (SongKick), as well as from venture capital firms Tapestry, Seedcamp, Tiny.vc, and Prototype Capital.

The company develops modular robotic systems aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises. Leveraging artificial intelligence and advanced software, Sunrise Robotics offers solutions that allow for the automation of manufacturing processes without the need for expensive and complex systems traditionally accessible only to large corporations.

The company’s founders are CEO Tomaž Štolfa, formerly of Pitch and Layer, CTO Dr. Marko Taler, a specialist in mechanical engineering, and CCO Joe Perrott, who previously oversaw the production of over 100 million devices at PCH International.

Sunrise Robotics’ technology is focused on addressing current industrial challenges such as the shortage of skilled labor and disruptions in supply chains. The modular approach enables rapid adaptation of production lines to changing requirements, reducing waste and increasing efficiency.
