A new initiative has been launched in Switzerland aimed at including Bitcoin in the reserves of the Swiss National Bank (SNB). A group of Bitcoin enthusiasts has initiated a petition to conduct a referendum that proposes amendments to the country’s constitution. This requires collecting more than 100,000 signatures from Swiss citizens.
Yves Bennaïm, the founder and chairman of the non-profit think tank 2B4CH, is the campaign initiator. He believes that adding Bitcoin to the SNB’s reserves will help maintain Switzerland’s sovereignty and neutrality amid global instability. He expressed this opinion in an interview with the Swiss publication Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ).
