💡 Daniil Hetmantsev, head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax, and Customs Policy, announced that Ukraine plans to legalize cryptocurrency in the first half of 2025. Currently, the National Bank of Ukraine, in cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), is finalizing the development of the corresponding bill, which will create the legal framework for regulating the crypto market.
🔵 The new bill proposes standard taxation for cryptocurrency transactions similar to securities, where investment income will be taxed. The tax rate is expected to be 18%, along with a military fee of 1.5%. There are no tax benefits planned for cryptocurrency transactions.
🔵 The legalization of cryptocurrency will create a clear regulatory framework for businesses and investors, stimulating innovation and the development of the digital assets sector in the country. The bill is also aimed at harmonizing Ukrainian legislation with EU standards, particularly the MiCA regulation, which will help strengthen Ukraine’s position in the European financial markets.
💬 According to Hetmantsev, the official response from IMF experts is expected soon, and possibly in the first or second quarter of 2025, cryptocurrency will be officially legalized and become part of Ukraine’s economic ecosystem. This will open up new opportunities for international investors and strengthen trust in the country’s crypto industry.
