Visma strengthens its presence in Germany: acquires startups Taxy.io and milia.io
Norwegian company Visma, one of Europe’s largest developers of cloud software for accounting, management, and tax consulting, is expanding its presence in the German market through two landmark acquisitions: Taxy.io and milia.io — young yet established startups transforming the way Steuerberater and Kanzlei operate.
Taxy.io (Aachen) — a spin-off of RWTH Aachen University founded in 2018. It uses proprietary artificial intelligence to automate complex tax consultations. Its solutions enable lawyers and consultants to quickly find relevant legal provisions, ensuring accuracy and speed. The company already serves over 1,500 tax offices across Germany.

milia.io (Cologne / Bonn) — an all-in-one platform for the digital transformation of accounting and tax practices. It enables seamless client communication, document collection, task management, digital signatures, and integration with DATEV and other systems. milia.io makes tax advisory offices fully digital.

Both startups address a critical issue: bureaucratically overloaded Steuerberater face time constraints and difficulties working with digital channels. The solutions from milia.io and Taxy.io enable the automation of routine processes, freeing up experts to focus on strategic work with clients.
💬 Ari-Pekka Salovaara, Chief Growth Officer at Visma:
“We see enormous potential in transforming the German tax services market. The acquisition of Taxy.io and milia.io allows us to offer clients advanced technologies based on the real needs of German Kanzlei.”
The deal confirms the growing trend toward the consolidation of innovative solutions in Germany’s tax-legal sector. Already holding an extensive portfolio in Scandinavia and the Benelux countries, Visma now makes Germany a priority market.
